Jeremy Caruthers

I was born and raised in Northern VA. My father is a pastor and my mother a music minister. I started playing drums at the age of 10 and was learning trumpet at the same time. Now, I also play guitar, bass, and piano.

I had a love for music at a young age. Many years ago, I spent hours in the afternoon standing by the radio with blank tapes, pressing record when my favorite hip hop songs came on. I would make a rough mixtape of the most popular songs on the radio, copy it multiple times, and sell them at school so I could buy iced honey buns and Veryfine juice. I fell in love with hip hop, and soon enough, I was intrigued by lyricism and rhyming. I began to write and perform in the neighborhood. Upon graduating high school, I took all the money I had made and bought as much recording equipment as I could. Since then I have upgraded my equipment, and my talent, enormously. I’m blessed to have played with many great musicians/artists and in so many places around the world. I have also recorded two of my own solo albums and two others with my hip hop group, Fate Theory.

While attending Lee University, I had the privilege of playing with and traveling in many groups. First, I toured with Evangelistic Singers as their drummer. I then traveled with James and the Fam, playing drums or keys. I also lead music at a local church that was newly founded. I finished my college career with Campus Choir; playing piano, leading the band, and writing the choir’s musical arrangements. I had the privilege on working on two full albums, one with Evangelistic Singers (drums) and and the other with Campus Choir (piano and musical arrangements).

I am currently working with local musicians, singers, and filmmakers. I am arranging, writing, producing, mixing, editing, and mastering.

My hope is that we can work together to make what you imagine come to life.
